For many years before tattooing became mainstream in modern society, very few women got tattoos, those that did were often frowned upon.

Everything changed twenty years ago when tattooing became much more socially accepted, largely due to celebrities who publicly sported tattoos. Female celebrities gaining tattoos led to female tattoos becoming more common and acceptable. Nowadays most people find female tattoos attractive and sexy.

On average men are more likely to get tattooed than women, there’s a slight element of rebellion inherent when a woman gets a tattoo. Although over the years this presumption is lowering, more seen as a fashion item these days.

Small Female Tattoos

Generally women are physically smaller and more delicately built than men. We consider small, more delicate things much more feminine. That is why tattoos for women are generally smaller and prettier than most male tattoos.

Feminine tattoo designs are less aggressive and heavy looking as apposed to men’s tattoos. They tend to have thinner lines which draw less attention.
